In 2019, Fundación Avanzar in cooperation with the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana offered 14 women the opportunity to acquire basic knowledge of electrical installation in a 6-month technical course. The aim is on the one hand to give women access to better paid jobs, and on the other hand to help them gain greater self-esteem.
From the youngest participant at 14 years of age to the oldest woman at 50, they all enjoy learning about the basics of electrical installations which will enable them to perform most jobs that need to be done in an Ecuadorian household. They arrive in class decked out with their tool boxes in order to immediately practice what they learn in class. At the end of their 6-month course, they graduate with an official certificate issued by the Politécnica Salesiana.
